For those of you who haven't done this regatta in the past, it is is a superb event in Kinsale, Southern Ireland, an easy drive from the ferry terminal in Cork and well worth considering if you fancy a trip away with your boat and crew. Ian Travers brings us an update:
Preparations for the Sovereign's Cup scheduled to run from 22nd to 25th June are hotting up. Kinsale Yacht Club has received huge levels of interest from Irish and UK based Quarter Ton Sailors which bode well for a competitive and fun regatta. Perhaps of greatest surprise was getting an entry from 'Black Fun' all the way from New Zealand! We look forward to extending her crew an extra special welcome to Kinsale.
Some teams are taking advantage of the fact that the Irish IRC Nationals are on the weekend before in Crosshaven and are aiming to compete in both regattas. For those looking to do both there are some minor logistical considerations that will need to be addressed gven that the events are 15 miles apart. I (Ian Travers) would be more than happy to assist teams in this regard.
For those wishing to do the Soveriegn;s Cup - the website address is: www.sovereignscup.com and the web address for the IRC Irish Nationals is: http://royalcork.com.
We are committed to providing you with as cost effective a package as possible in order to minimise expense in terms of ferry costs, craneage and the provision of reasonably priced accommodation. In order to open up communication please can you let me know if you are planning to do either or both events. I will mail out details of ferries by return mail and am happy to act as a point of contact should you need assistance.
